Part 02 – Page 50

February 8th, 2010

Just four pages left before this part ends. That makes next week’s Wednesday the day for the final page and the start of my vacancy period (publishing Robomeks). As I stated already I’ll expand on this subject once we get there. I just thought it’d be nice to warn you about it again, to make sure it doesn’t take anybody by surprise.

A nurse robot approaches Ace. He immediately jumps back, touching his bionic arm, in a defensive position.

NURSE ROBOT: Are you sure, sir?

ACE: I've told you get away from me, junk ball. I'm OK. No help needed here. So, go bother someone else before I zap you. Shoo!

Ace and the robot are having the argument in the exterior. A building behind them shows a door from where robotic trolleys are extracting the injured children from the sewer area. There's people with medic and police uniforms supervising the operation.

On a side, Witty approaches Vincent, who is sitting, worried and thoughtful.

Tip: Segmenting visitors by screen resolution in Google Analytics

article ga screenresolutions 2 Tip: Segmenting visitors by screen resolution in Google Analytics

The problem

I needed to answer this question: How many readers will be affected by the bigger size of the new site design?

Basically, I needed to know how many visitors are using a screen resolution higher or lower than the one I had in mind, which is 1280×800. A high proportion of visitors with a lower resolution than that would mean that I’d better reconsider downsizing the site to, say, a 1024 width, as it’ll impact negatively the usability of the site for them.

Fortunately, Google Analytics has a nice feature that can answer that question as long as you want to deal with regular expressions. And, fortunately again, I’ve done the hard work for you.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from Robomeks!

Up there you can see, from left to right, Ace dressed up as Ash (from Evil Dead movie series), Witty as Asajj Ventress (from Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series) and Vincent as Gordon Freeman (from the Half-Life game series).

And below the special pin-up from last year’s Halloween. I’ve talked about it around here already, but very few of you got the chance to see it, as it was never posted in the main site.
